Washington German Shepherd Rescue is a 100% volunteer-run nonprofit organization.
What we do
We rescue surrendered, abandoned, and neglected German Shepherds — primarily through partnerships with local Washington shelters — and place them with families across the Pacific Northwest.
Every dog goes to a foster home, never a kennel. Each one is evaluated first by volunteers with over 20 years of rescue experience, then by the foster family living with them: cat-tested, dog-tested, kid-tested, crate-trained where needed, with their quirks documented honestly so adopters know exactly what they're signing up for.
We're a 501(c)(3) all-volunteer organization. No one on the team draws a salary. Donations cover veterinary care, food, and supplies — and right now, those donations are what decide how many dogs we can say yes to.
What we believe
- Right-fit, every time. We don't do first-come-first-served. We match dog and family for the long haul.
- Honest about every dog. If a dog has a quirk, you'll know before you take them home.
- Foster homes, not kennels. Every dog lives with a foster family until adoption.
- For life. If life changes and you can't keep your dog, reach out to us first — we want to know before anything else happens.

Washington German Shepherd Rescue is powered entirely by volunteers. There are no paid staff—just dedicated people who open their homes, give their time, and work tirelessly to save German Shepherds in need.
Every donation helps provide veterinary care, food, medications, supplies, and safe shelter for dogs who have nowhere else to turn. Your support allows us to continue rescuing abandoned, neglected, and surrendered dogs and giving them the second chance they deserve.
